General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, is appealing to residents of Georgetown to give his party a chance to govern the city at the local government level when elections are held in June. Speaking to a gathering outside the party’s Freedom House headquarters on Robb Street, Jagdeo stated that since independence 57 years ago, the PPP has never gotten a chance to manage the city. Jagdeo stressed that the PPP has done a remarkable job in bringing about positive change at the national level, and it is now time for them to bring their expertise to the city level. He reasoned that every time the PPP has been in office, the country has moved forward, and more people are getting access to jobs, education, and healthcare.
