"Deadly Accident on Mabura Trail Claims One Life and Injures Several Others on Route to Rupununi Rodeo"

The road to the Rupununi Rodeo this weekend became deadly following a spate of accidents along the Lethem Trail, Region Nine, which has left at least one person dead and several others injured.

According to reports, Abdul Straker, a 28-year-old resident of Robb Street, Georgetown sustained serious injuries after the vehicle he was traveling in turned turtle along the Mabura Trail in the vicinity of Marian Hill, Upper Demerara River (Region 10).

The vehicle, a motor pickup with the license plate number PRR 4027, was reportedly proceeding south along the eastern side of the Mabura Trail at a fast rate. While negotiating a bend, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to turn turtle and come to a halt on the eastern side of the trail.

At the time, there were six occupants in the vehicle, all of whom received injuries and were picked up in a conscious condition by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex. Sadly, Abdul Straker died while receiving medical attention, while the driver and the four other occupants were treated and admitted to the hospital.

This tragedy is just one of several accidents that have occurred along the Lethem Trail as a huge entourage of vehicles set out for this weekend's Rupununi Rodeo. A series of photos and videos have been circulating on social media, documenting the aftermath of these accidents.

Police say investigations are currently in progress. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Abdul Straker during this difficult time. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
