One person has been confirmed dead and another is currently hospitalized after a van crashed into a parked truck on the Good Hope Public Road. According to reports, the fatal accident occurred at around 6:10 am on Thursday morning. The van was being driven by 38-year-old Wilfred Sanasie, with 63-year-old Takurand Seemangal as the sole passenger. Seemangal, who was from Lot 157 Thomas Street, Georgetown, tragically lost his life in the accident. The van was traveling east along the northern lane of the public road when it collided with the parked truck on the northern side of the road facing east. The department offers a range of new services, including electroconvulsive therapy, ketamine services for depression, neuropsychiatry, and forensic psychology, among others. In this video, we will discuss the impact of this new facility on mental health care in Guyana. The Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, emphasized that the new facility is designed to provide a conducive space where patients can receive care in a dignified and respectful manner. T oday an accident in East Bank Demerara claimed the life of a 24-year-old Police Corporal who was attached to the Presidential Guard Unit. Avandel Narine, also known as “Kevin”, of New Market Street, Georgetown, was stationed at Castellani House. According to police reports, the accident occurred at approximately 06:20h in Coverden, East Bank Demerara. At the time, the vehicle, a silver grey Land Cruiser Jeep with the registration number PAD 3849, was occupied by three other individuals, including 22-year-old Cassie Atkinson of Kitty, Georgetown, who was also injured in the crash. Reports indicate that Narine was driving the vehicle at a high rate of speed along the eastern side of the public road at Coverden, overtaking several vehicles that were traveling in the same direction. Late on Saturday night, a truck driver was tragically stabbed to death during a robbery in Eccles, East Bank Demerara. The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Kerry Sears, was attacked by four perpetrators on two motorcycles, one of whom was armed with a knife. Two other individuals were also robbed during the incident. According to investigations, Sears had left his workplace headquarters in Herstelling, EBD, in a Motor Canter GYY-2428 to conduct company business at Sarah Johanna, EBD, at around 6:00 pm on the day of the incident. He was scheduled to return to the company's headquarters to conclude his work for the day. Another driver working for a separate company told investigators that he was also driving a motor lorry and had traveled to Hope, EBD, along with other workers.
