"Fatal Collision on Good Hope Public Road: One Dead, Another Hospitalized"
we have some tragic news coming in from the East Coast of Demerara. One person has been confirmed dead and another is currently hospitalized after a van crashed into a parked truck on the Good Hope Public Road.
According to reports, the fatal accident occurred at around 6:10 am on Thursday morning. The van was being driven by 38-year-old Wilfred Sanasie, with 63-year-old Takurand Seemangal as the sole passenger. Seemangal, who was from Lot 157 Thomas Street, Georgetown, tragically lost his life in the accident.
The van was traveling east along the northern lane of the public road when it collided with the parked truck on the northern side of the road facing east. The left side front portion of the van collided with the right side of the truck, causing injuries to both Sanasie and Seemangal.
Emergency services arrived on the scene and transported the injured men to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for treatment. However, it was too late for Seemangal, who was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
Sanasie, who was admitted to the hospital with head injuries, is said to be in a stable condition and receiving treatment.
As is customary in such cases, Seemangal's body is currently at the GPHC’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police on the East Coast of Demerara are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Takurand Seemangal during this difficult time. We also wish Wilfred Sanasie a speedy recovery from his injuries. Let us all take this as a reminder to exercise caution and stay vigilant on the roads to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
