Paul Watson Charged Again | Ex-Cop Slapped With 7 Fraud Charges
According to police reports, Watson obtained $2,787,000 from Sharda Bramdeo by pretending to be a police officer between February and November 2019. He claimed that he was in a position to file a Notice of Appeal, which he knew to be false. In total, he has been charged with four counts of obtaining money by false pretenses. He was granted bail in the sum of $800,000, and the case has been adjourned to May 15.
In addition to the charges mentioned above, Watson was also charged with three similar counts at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, to which he also pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 and ordered to return to court on May 16.
This is not the first time Watson has faced charges. In 2017 and 2021, he was charged with obtaining money from two men by claiming that he could get them a firearm license. In the 2017 case, Watson claimed that he was an Inspector and told businessman Govind Sundar that the Police were investigating his background. Later, Sundar received another call from Watson, asking for $300,000 to process his application. In 2021, Watson collected $400,000 from another individual to process a firearm license.
In conclusion, Paul Watson, a former police officer, has been charged with seven fraud-related charges for obtaining money by false pretenses. He has been granted bail for each charge and will have to appear in court in May. This is not the first time Watson has faced such charges, and it is imperative that the legal system deals with such offenses effectively. We hope justice is served, and people are more cautious while dealing with individuals who claim to be in positions of authority.
